Medical Assisting Program at Receives Accreditation

The demand for medical assistants in Hawaiʻi is growing and Kauaʻi Community College’s effort to meet that demand has garnered national recognition and respect. According to the University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges’ Hawaiʻi Industry Sectors website, medical assisting jobs are projected to rise to 3,500 in 2027 from 3,169 in 2017. The newly accredited medical assisting program at Kauaʻi Community College will help to fill those jobs.

Rhealyn Valenciano

My friends describe me as ambitious, and I think that’s pretty accurate. When I applied to go to KCC I knew exactly what I wanted to do. My dream was to become a business owner of a Filipino restaurant. Of course, that meant that I wanted to get my degree in business administration.

Jaysie Shimabukuro

I have a passion for living life. When I graduated from high school, I was full of dreams; to teach English, to travel the world, to learn languages. Things didn’t exactly go as planned-I fell into a slump and spent the next few years trying to figure everything out.

Brayden Munar

I fell in love with carpentry when I started working with my family in my junior year of high school. We did side jobs together and from then on, I wanted to be a carpenter.

Hector Perez Jr

I’m a student in the nursing program at KCC. To be honest, I didn’t plan on going to college to be a nurse, but everything lined up perfectly for me to be here and graduate this Spring.

Devan Ueno

It has been inspirational to see how I can make a positive impact on someone’s life. Growing up with both of my parents working in the medical field, I became interested in what they did, and early on I knew that I wanted to be a nurse. I enjoy helping others and providing the care that they need.
