“Stay on Kaua’i, or to go to the mainland?” This is the question our high school seniors will be answering in the next 4 months. Parents of these same high school Seniors will be asking each other do we have enough money to send our student away? A round trip flight to the West Coast is nearing $400.00 dollars which equates to 1 class at KCC. The tuition, room & board, and textbooks for a mainland college can become a financial burden versus an asset for any family.
KCC offers a softer financial option to stay on-island or to move to the Mainland with actual employability skill(s). We offer individual one-on-one instruction while pursuing a 2-year Associates in Applied Science degree in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (Electrician), a National Automotive Technicians Education (NATEF), Electronics or Pre-Engineering 2-year and/or 4-year transferrable degree, and Building Construction skills learned in Kaua’i’s Community based projects. Each Trades Program networks to the rising Kaua’i Community and Industry needs.
Anyone on Kaua’i or the mainland owns a car that will need to be fixed, a rental property or home to be repaired, a computer to be upgraded or fixed, and welding and/or plumbing needs. Traveling in these lines of work with employability skills is an easier financial path for our young adults and creates less dependence on the Bank of Mom & Dad. Hands-on, self-directed, and cognitive learning skills fly around the field of education like a football in the playoffs to the Super Bowl. The KCC Trades Division provides all three of these employability skills as well as fiscal stability in a NATEF Top 50 in Nation Automotive Program, Building construction, Electronics, and Electrical Technology Programs. KCC Trades Programs provide technical training as good or better than many mainland institutions with highly educated locally raised instructors who have immense Industry knowledge. Saving time and money while gaining employability skills for life’s toolbox is what KCC Trades Division provides.
