Understanding Cost of Attendance

The cost of attendance (COA) is an estimate of your total educational expenses for a year. It goes beyond just tuition and fees, and factors in standard costs for items like:

• Books and supplies
• Housing and food
• Transportation
• Personal expenses

These budgets are set by the University of Hawai‘i System and updated annually. They help determine your eligibility for financial aid.

Additional Expenses You May Qualify For:

• Specific course materials for your major (upon request)
• Documented childcare costs
• Travel allowance for neighbor island students
• Disability-related educational expenses (not covered by other aid)

How to Request Additional Costs:

If you have these additional expenses, talk to the financial aid office to see if they can be factored into your financial aid award for the Federal Direct Loan Program.

Fall and Spring Tuition
Resident = $131 per credit
Non-Resident = $ 345 per credit

Summer Tuition
Resident = $248 per credit
Non-Resident = $357 per credit
