  • Where do Medical Assistants work?
    Medical Assistants work in outpatient clinics, doctors offices, hemodialysis centers, and ambulatory care centers.
     
  • Why should I consider Medical Assisting as a healthcare career?
    Medical assistants are a rapidly growing part of the healthcare team. If you like working with people, are team-oriented, and are interested in a career in healthcare; medical assisting may be a good choice for you. 
     
  • When can I enter the program?
    Admission is once a year. You can only begin classes in the Fall. Applications are accepted from January 1 - February 1.
     
  • What are the admission requirements? 
    Look under program admissions and advising prerequisites, and health clearances. There are prerequisite courses that must be completed and health clearances that are required. Health clearances can be completed at any time but must be completed prior to admission. Healthcare provider CPR must be completed and current prior to admission.
     
  • What days of the week are program classes held?
    Program classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons and evenings. For details regarding class schedules, click here.  
     
  • Can I still work when I'm in the program?
    Yes, you can work. However, it's not recommended that you work more than 24 hours per week. 
     
  • What are the job prospects for Medical Assistants?
    Medical Assistants are part of a rapidly growing and high-demand area of the healthcare job market. Job prospects are good.
  • How much do Medical Assistants earn?
    Pay depends on the clinical site, educational preparation, and employer, and does vary. However, Medical Assistants who have graduated from an accredited program earn on average between $23-33/hr.
