UHCC EdReady™ Math and English Placement/Readiness

UH-Kaua`i CC is using UHCC EdReady™ College Readiness scores to help students determine their starting course for English and Math. After you complete the initial diagnostic test you can use your score to register for classes. You can also keep working on your learning path to improve your score. When you hit a score milestone, you’ll get an email letting you know the next math or English course you have qualified for.

You only need to register once. The UHCC EdReady™ username and password you set up will give you access to both College English and Math Placement Programs.

Step 1 - Create an UHCC EdReady account at uhcc.edready.org

Go to uhcc.edready.org.

IMPORTANT! You must use the UHCC EdReady site to complete your placement diagnostics.

Look for the gold UHCC logo to make sure you’re on the UHCC EdReady site.

Click on Get Started and answer the following questions:

First name
Last name
Email address
Create a password
Zip code
UH ID number (enter your 8-digit UH number)
UH Campus – Kauai
Which language do you know best

Step 2 - When prompted, type the following Goal Key exactly as shown.

UH_KAU_Placement

Step 3 - Complete your Diagnostic in either English or Math.

ENGLISH Placement
- Start on “English Path 1”
MATH Placement
Your goals determine which Math Path you should complete (you only need to complete one ):
- Math Path1: Non-STEM/College Math Placement
  - This path is for students in programs like Humanities, Nursing, Education, and many career and technical program that do not require Algebra or Calculus.
  - Using Math Path 1, you could place into
    - Math 100 – Survey of Mathematics
    - Math 111 – Math for Elementary Teachers I
    - Math 115 – Intro to Statistics and Probability
Math Path 2: STEM/College Algebra Placement
- This path is for students in programs like Science, Engineering, Business, and some allied health programs that require college algebra.
- Using Math Path 2, you could place into
  - Math 82X – Expanded Algebraic Foundations
  - Math 103+88 – College Algebra + Companion
  - Math 103 – College Algebra

Math Path 3: STEM/Calculus Placement
- This path is for students seeking placement into college algebra, pre-calculus, or calculus courses.
- Using Math Path 3, you could place into
  - Math 103 – College Algebra
  - Math 140X – Pre-Calculus
  - Math 241 – Calculus I

Step 4 - Complete Your Diagnostic and Get Your Results.

The English and math diagnostics are untimed, so you can stop and come back later to finish the test. The English diagnostic test takes about an hour and a half. Each Math path diagnostic test takes about an hour. Remember, you only need to complete one Math path diagnostic. When you are finished, your score will be sent to your email address.
