Create and Maintain Amazing Websites on Kaua’i

Maritza Medina - Website Technology

Are you living on Kaua’i and working two or more jobs just to make ends meet? Have you considered creating your own website or sprucing-up an existing one, but held off because of all the overwhelming options and hidden costs of so-called “free” website development programs?

Website design is a valuable skill that gives people the freedom to live anywhere in the world and make a primary or supplemental income. This is the reason why the new Creative Media degree program at Kaua’i CC is offering “Introduction to Website Technology”! In this comprehensive class, you will learn how to create and maintain amazing websites that will display perfectly on all screens and devices. This new, credited course will begin in the fall semester of 2019. Classes will be held Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:30 - 9:15 a.m. and enrollment begins April 8, 2019.

As the Webmaster at Kaua’i CC, I have over fifteen years of experience creating websites for colleges, large companies and small businesses. It's empowering to have the ability to adjust specific features on your own website, and to know what's happening behind the scenes on your pages. In this introductory course, I will show you how to create and maintain your own website so you can avoid paying continuous maintenance costs and other hidden fees. This class will give you a working knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (html), Cascading Style Sheets (css) and Images (img), with lessons that are both easy and fun.

After completing “Introduction to Website Technology”, Kaua’i CC students can continue on to earn a Certificate in Website Technology that directly applies to an Associate of Science Degree in Creative Media at Kaua’i CC. Being part of the UH system, students may continue on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Media at UH West Oahu.

If you have an interest in this exciting and dynamic field, consider enrolling in “Introduction to Website Technology”, offered by Kaua’i CC’s new Creative Media degree program. For more information, please feel free to contact me at: maritza9@hawaii.edu.
