Student Loans

Kauai Community College promotes responsible borrowing. Borrow only what you need, since Federal Direct Student Loans do have to be paid back. To request a Federal Direct Student Loan, complete one or both of the following forms for each school year (Fall/Spring):

First Time Loan Borrower, please complete the following:

  • Entrance Loan Counseling
  • Master Promissory Note

Go to www.studentloans.gov

  1. Click the Log In button.
  2. Using your FSA ID and Password, log in to studentloans.gov.
  3. On "My Home Page" click the appropriate link.
    1. Complete Loan Counseling (Entrance, Financial Awareness, Exit)
    2. Complete Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note)

The Department of Education requires a 30 day delay on loan disbursements for first time borrowers who are first year college students. 

Previous Loan Borrower transfer students, please read the following:

Go to www.studentloans.gov

  1. Click the Log In button.
  2. Using your FSA ID and Password, log in to studentloans.gov.
  3. On "My Home Page" click the appropriate link.
  4. On "My Home Page" select "Complete Loan Counseling" then Start. Add Kauai Community College on the left under "Select School to Notify" section.
  5. Confirm your Master Promissory Note (MPN) is on file by going to Menu in the upper right corner. Select My Account and then My Documents. If no MPN, select Loan Agreement (MPN) under Obtain Aid at the bottom of the page.

Please Note: All loans will be disbursed in two disbursements, one in the fall and one in the spring (unless otherwise requested). If loans are needed for summer semester, please contact the Financial Aid Office.
