Students who participated in service-learning in Spring or Fall 2008 are eligible to apply for a ten-day summer home stay program, with most expenses hosted by Hakuoh University and Honda Scholarship. 7 selected UH Community College Students who have played an important role in impacting their community and colleges through service-learning. Students who are selected for the program will spend time in the classroom meeting and working with Hakuoh students, studying Japanese culture, visiting historical sites, and participating in a service-learning project with a final capstone.
Eligibility:
- U.S. citizen at time of application
- Hawai'i resident at time of application
- Min. cumulative GPA of 2.5 with high quality of service as determined by your reflection paper, recommendations and evaluations.
- 2 letters of recommendation from: a Service-Learning coordinator or supervisor, indicating the number of Service-Learning hours completed by the applicant and from an UHCC faculty member. (Recommendation forms are provided).
